National Education Rural and Urban Development Society (NERUDS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being of marginalized communities in both rural and urban settings. Established with a strong commitment to social development, NERUDS focuses on initiatives that empower individuals, particularly women, through various programs aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, awareness, and skill development.

NERUDS is on a mission to uplift marginalized communities by providing comprehensive support through women empowerment, entrepreneurship awareness programs, entrepreneurship development programs, skills development initiatives, and the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). We strive to create an environment where individuals can break free from the shackles of poverty and build sustainable livelihoods, ultimately leading to the overall socio-economic development of the community.

Our Board Members

LIVELIHOOD PROGRAMS

NERUDS has been instrumental in delivering a wide array of livelihood programs designed to enhance the employability and income-generating capacity of our beneficiaries. These programs include:

  • Tailoring Program: Equipping individuals with tailoring skills to create opportunities for self-employment in the textile industry
  • Maggam Work: Providing specialized training in intricate embroidery work, a valuable skill in the fashion and textile sector.
  • Saree Kuchu: Empowering women with the art of Saree Kuchu, enabling them to create decorative saree borders.
  • Craft Work and Painting: Nurturing creativity and craftsmanship among beneficiaries for income generation through art and craft.

SHG Formation

NERUDS recognizes the power of collective action and financial inclusion. We have actively promoted the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) among women in our communities.

These SHGs serve as platforms for members to:

  • Pool financial resources for micro-investment.
  • Access credit facilities to support income-generating activities.
  • Share knowledge, experiences, and support networks.

NERUDS has played a pivotal role in forming and nurturing SHGs, fostering a sense of unity and empowerment among women.

Our Programs

Government Program Partnership

NERUDS has demonstrated a strong track record of expertise in collaborating with
government agencies, notably the Women and Child Welfare department in Karnataka. We
have been actively involved in implementing the "Amrita Self-Help Small Enterprises"
Scheme, announced to commemorate the 75th Independence Day.

Program Highlights for the FY 2023-24

In the fiscal year 2023-24, NERUDS made significant strides in empowering marginalized
communities through various impactful initiatives. Collaborating closely with the Women and
Child Welfare Department, we organized and executed a series of programs aimed at
enhancing entrepreneurial skills, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and providing
specialized training in tailoring and embroidery. These programs, conducted across Belagavi,
Bellary, and Anekal Taluk, benefited over 1,750 individuals, equipping them with the necessary
skills and knowledge to improve their livelihoods and achieve greater economic independence.

Amrita Self-Help Small Enterprises Scheme and Entrepreneurship Development Program

Under the Amrita Self-Help Small Enterprises Scheme and Entrepreneurship Development
Program initiative of the Women and Child Welfare Department, NERUDS, in collaboration
with the Women and Child Welfare Department, organized a comprehensive 3-day
entrepreneurship development program across the Belagavi district. This program benefited
a total of 1,240 individuals, providing them with essential skills and knowledge to pursue
entrepreneurial ventures. Additionally, a similar program was conducted in Bellary,
benefiting over 150 individuals, further extending the reach of this impactful initiative.

Skill Development Program in Bellary

With the support of the Women and Child Welfare Department, NERUDS organized a skill
development program in Bellary, benefiting 105 participants. This program aimed to
enhance the employability and income-generating potential of the beneficiaries by
equipping them with various essential skills tailored to meet the demands of the local job
market.

Entrepreneurship Development Program on Labeling, Packing, and Certification

NERUDS conducted a 2-day Entrepreneurship Development Program focused on labeling,
packing, certification, and other skill development activities such as tailoring and
handicrafts. Supported by the Women and Child Welfare Department, this program in
Bellary benefited a total of 105 individuals, providing them with the necessary skills to
enhance their business operations and marketability of their products.

Organic Farming and Packaging Program in Anekal

In Bangalore North, Anekal Taluk, NERUDS, with the support of the Women and Child Welfare
Department, organized a program on organic farming and packaging for 20 particiapnts . This
initiative aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve the packaging
techniques of local farmers, enhancing the value and market appeal of their organic produce.

Tailoring Program in Bellary

With the support of the Women and Child Welfare Department, NERUDS implemented a 45-
day tailoring program in Bellary, benefiting 50 women. This program provided participants
with comprehensive training in tailoring skills, enabling them to pursue self-employment
opportunities in the textile industry and contribute to their household incomes.

Embroidery Training for Migrant Women's Community in Bellary

Embroidery Training for Migrant Women's Community in Bellary
NERUDS, in collaboration with the Women and Child Welfare Department, conducted an
embroidery training program for 20 womens in Bellary specifically designed for the migrant
women's community. This initiative aimed to empower these women by equipping them
with valuable embroidery skills, enabling them to generate income and improve their socioeconomic status.
